Dr. Maribel Obenza grew up in Charleston, WV. She graduated from The George Washington University with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Communication in 2005. She also received a B.S. in Biology from West Virginia University in 2007. She finished her education in 2011 at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University (PCO) with a B.S. and Doctorate of Optometry.
During her education at PCO, Dr. Obenza completed a primary care rotation at The Eye Institute at PCO and externships at private practices in Beckley, WV and Miami, FL. She performed her hospital rotation in Bethel, AK where she travelled to the surrounding small Alaskan villages to perform eye exams and screenings. She also completed a disease rotation at The Pentagon in Washington, DC. Additionally, as a student, she traveled to Belize to provide free eyecare to people in need.
Her professional interests include primary eye care, fitting and evaluation of contact lenses, and ocular disease.
